Ultimate Kronos Group, the payroll and HR software provider, experienced a ransomware attack that could send a shockwave of ongoing repercussions to its customers. The company is warning that the attack may force its systems offline for weeks.

With a customer base that includes many high-profile clients such as Tesla, MGM Resorts International, and Puma, thousands of workers could be affected. Kronos has told customers they are “working with leading cyber security experts to assess and resolve the situation.” However, the company is still advising customers to find alternative options for the time being. “Given that it may take up to several weeks to restore system availability, we strongly recommend that you evaluate and implement alternative business continuity protocols related to the affected UKG solutions,” the company said.

As the company continues to “investigate and mitigate” more details are expected to follow. For now, the company has stated other products under the Kronos umbrella seem to be unaffected.
