Another US government agency has fallen victim to a recent cyberattack. After suffering from is presumed to have been a ransomware attack, the West Virginia Parkways Authority announced their internal computer systems, email, phone system, and other non-critical applications were affected for several hours.

The government agency has stated that systems have been restored and they are now turning their focus on an investigation of the incident with the aid of state and federal cybersecurity experts. At this point it seems as though only the agency’s operational technology was affected with “no indication customer data was breached,” according to General Manager Jeff Miller.

Further details of the incident and whether or not a ransom had been paid has yet to be revealed as more information is expected as the investigation continues.
