North American food importer Atalanta recently declared a data breach due to a ransomware attack that happened in July 2021. An investigation of the data breach confirmed that personal information from Atalanta’s current and former employees and some visitors were exfiltrated by an unauthorized third party.

After learning of the network intrusion, Atalanta sought the help of outside cyber security specialists to begin remediating the incident. During the attack, threat actors encrypted specific systems and accessed and acquired data files. The company has not stated the number of files or employees impacted by the breach.

Although the company has stated no indication of any misuse of the compromised information, they still remind those potentially impacted to remain vigilant against any fraud or identity theft.
