For the second time in consecutive months, global manufacturing company Olympus Corporation, has been victimized by a ransomware attack. While the medical equipment manufacturer was still recovering after ransomware shut down systems in their Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, Olympus was again forced to do the same to their US, Canada, and Latin America IT systems.

The company is working on restoring their systems quickly to avoid costly downtime and has so far stated that there is no evidence of any stolen data. This attack follows a growing and worrisome trend as many ransomware gangs are neglecting data theft and rather focusing on the encryption of networks and processes to leverage a faster and higher ransom payments.

Investigations for Olympus continue as further details of the incident are expected to follow.
