Baltimore’s Diamond Comic Distributions, a major comic book and graphic novel publisher and distributor, suffered a ransomware attack causing disruptions to their website and other services.

The weekend attack left DCD without the ability to process customer orders as updates from the company read, “Due to the system issues we're experiencing, some customer shipments of product with an on-sale date of November 10 will be delayed.”

Further details regarding the attack have yet to be released, however, the company has stated that “customer data and financial information is not stored on (their) network and as such we have no reason to believe it has been impacted by this attack.”

Ransomware attacks continue to target businesses over weekends and throughout their busy seasons when most small businesses are unable to monitor their networks. Fortunately for DCD, they were able to retain some level of operational services. The extent of the damages and costs remain to be seen as the company continues to works with law enforcement and third party cyber security experts.
