In a recent press release, clothing manufacturer Next Level Apparel, announced several of its employees have had their email addresses compromised in a phishing attack. The company’s statement noted that cyber criminals were able to access the email accounts, and their contents, during a timespan between February 17, 2021, and April 28, 2021.

While details of the data that was accessed is limited to customer and employee Personally Identifiable Information (PII), there is no word on whether any of the data was deemed stolen. Customers and employees are being warned that the compromised PII included Social Security numbers, financial/checking account numbers, payment card numbers, driver’s license numbers and limited medical/health information.

Next Level Apparel has posted a breach notification on their website to provide additional advice for anyone potentially affected by the incident. The statement mentions they are “taking steps to enhance (their) existing email security protocols and re-educating (their) staff for awareness on these types of incidents.”

As Next Level Apparel implements employee awareness training and other security protocols, employees and customers are being advised to remain vigilante as any stolen PII of this magnitude could extend an opportunity for cyber attacks on individuals and identity theft.
