After being hit with a ransomware attack late last week, the Toronto Transit Commission is assuring public users and employees that they are not at risk. TTC officials have stated that services and routes are continuing to run but apps and display systems for route information are being affected.

TTC is currently working with the city’s IT department to remediate the issue as they look to fully restore all services. "The full extent of the attack is being looked into and the TTC is working with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts on the matter," said Stuart Green of the TTC.

Officials have reported that the attack on TTC computer systems began on Thursday night and escalated by Friday. Little else is known about the incident and the extent of the damages at the time of this press release.
