Customers of PlanetDrugsDirect have been emailed and direct mailed a warning to monitor their credit card and banking statements after the company suffered a data breach. As a member of the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA) PlanetDrugsDirect offers online prescription referral services to an approximate 400,000 customers.

Security researchers uncovered a major data breach in the Plenty of Fish Mobile App. Information that users set to “Private",” such as First Names and Postal Codes, were found to be leaked on the dating company app’s API.
2 Year Phishing Campaign Targeting Major Canadian Banks Uncovered
An intricate, two year phishing campaign with the intention of targeting 14 major Canadian banks’ customers, including many from TD Canada Trust, CIBC, Scotiabank and RBC, has recently been exposed. The extensive phishing scam targeted the banks’ customers with emails containing authentic looking PDF attachments, bank logos and authorization codes.
Financial Company Sees 245 Computers Encrypted with Ransomware
Andrew Agencies, a Manitoba based insurance company, was hit with a ransomware attack that encrypted 245 of the company’s computers. The hackers threatened to expose stolen data if a ransom wasn’t paid, however, deadlines have been pushed back as Andrew Agencies has been refusing to pay since the discovery of the attack in October. Thus far, no data has been compromised or exposed but 876 customers could be impacted.
15 Million Canadians Potentially Affected By Life Labs’ Massive Data Breach
In an open letter penned to its customers, Life Labs, one of Canada’s largest medical laboratories, recently admitted that it had become aware of a major data breach potentially affecting 15 million customers. The Not-for-Profit company had reserved the funds for wages and general operations. The Ontario Science Centre has warned newsletter subscribers of a data breach that occurred after an employee of a third-party contractor was able to access and download personal data without authorization.
